 Mounting a shell without Drilling....
So Im looking at mounting my shell without drilling holes into the body for body posts. Basically looking at doing away with the body posts completely. (Always thought they looked fecking ugly!)
Anyhow. Anyone here that can give me some pointers on how to achieve this? What materials are best used to mount the shell onto the chassis. but still be sturdy enough to not go flying off when bumped or picked up??

Re: Mounting a shell without Drilling....
Check the trueno in my sig. The front body post are done away with. I basically took a peice of 30x30 aliminium angle...cut two slot in them to fit over the bolts that hold the shocks inn...and stuck some velcro to the plate...double sided some velco to the inside of the body and was done....it reaaalllly sticks. It's actuall difficult to get off after drifting out a battery. But it looks sooooooo sekzie

Was thinking of something along the same lines. I really suck at drilling for body holes and tend to miss align somehow and then all the work is wasted!
What about the rear? Did you do the same for the rear, or did you drill them and use the body posts?

Re: Mounting a shell without Drilling....
I used body post for the clear cause I keep the windscreen clear and the ally jobbie would have just looked k@k. If you tint the back it could maybe work but you would hve to bend the plate at the angle of the windscreen.

Re: Mounting a shell without Drilling....
why not move the mount to the boot so you dont see it... there must be a place to attach it

That's an option...will try it with a future shell.

Re: Mounting a shell without Drilling....
i used ally plate to make my mounts and then stuck the velcro on that. The plate is mounted on the shock tower with a little longer screws.

VELCRO is the way to go!
Also ... as I tend to move my components (receiver & ESC) from one chassis to another I use Velcro to keep them in place rather than double sided tape.
