garageHEART Trueno... Different but the same

    Hi Everyone,

I will document this build of mine on here. Many asked me before why i never built a detailed rc body and my reply is, drifting to me is what it was when it first started and that about about driver skill. So therefore I built shells in a day or two just to drift it. However i always added the small detail but ones that were readily available and the odd scratch built detail that nobody ever notices as long as i know it's there.

This one though will be built exactly like my current Trueno, same colours and same style... and it makes perfect sense, i can now use this shell for comps and demos without compromising my drifting and it will last alot longer.

Anyway lets jump into this build:

Here are some pics of my current ae86 and one of the new build:

(above) The current garageHEART AE86, this was when it was all shiny and beautiful...now its beautiful and less shiny
    Here is the new shell:

(above) body and bumpers ready for masking

(above) starting on the wiper arms

(above) Hopefully these wipers are rigid enough to withstand impact...if not i will build more but the wipers that are sold for rc drift cars are just not detailed anough.

(above) The part im holding with the pliers will be trimmed closer to the time of fitment

    (above) Ready for spraying

(above) this is my favourite one the rear wiper.

Next up i will build the door handles.

Thanks for looking and feel free to comment , if there is anyone out there still

And the door handles are done...

(above) the flat door handle, needs depth...

(above) different styrene strips, ended up choosing the one of the left.

(above) I then highlighted the door handle to get the size that i need to make mine.

    (above) cut to size

(above) one is shaped to look like an actual ae86 door handle

(above) and the door handles have some detail, just need to clean up grooves but that is easy.

(above) close up of it being cleaned up, still need to sand it down

(above) and the key locks, managed to find these in my parts bin which look very close to actual ae86 key locks and the scale is perfect.

    onto the license plate garnish...

    Thanks for looking

This weekend I did not do much on the Trueno, I managed to build the rear garnish to a point where it now needs putty to make it similar to the real one.

    (above) made the basic shape...

(above) Create the "steps" . Now i need to fill the gaps and sand it and shape it to look like the actual garnish.

(above) Then i started on the masking, first up marked everything

(above) and masking ready to be applied.

    and then onto the masking:

(above) off to a good start

(above) not sure why i spent time masking the number plate garnish on the body as that will be cut out. anyway at least i know i did not skip any detail

    (above) close up

    (above) and ready for spray.

    (above) chosen colour

Thanks for checking out the build.
